Creating a digital gift certificate is easy!
When it’s ready, it will look like this Demo.
The form is at the bottom of this page, but we highly recommend you review these helpful tips before proceeding:
- When creating a digital gift certificate, be as specific as possible in a way that can be measured. If you are donating a service, state exactly which type of service. If this service is measured in time, state how much time you are donating. If this service is measured in units, state the number of units. If you must travel to perform this service, include the distance you are willing to travel and the starting point you are measuring from. If you are donating a good, state which type of good. State its size, weight, or number of units. Be specific!
- Assign an expiration date. This will limit the amount of time for which you will be liable to honor your gift certificates, and will help you to keep your books straight. Remember to give the buyer/s a reasonable amount of time to redeem your gift certificates, or they won’t buy them. You have the option of stating a specific date, or saying “one year from date of purchase”.
- Smaller denominations are usually easier to sell. Instead of issuing one large certificate, perhaps consider issuing multiple smaller certificates.
- When a potential donee approaches you for a donation, ask them questions which help you assess the amount and type of exposure they could give you. This information could be much more valuable than merely knowing whether their organization is a 501c3 or not.
- Donating to good causes can give your business an identity. Donate to good causes which help you to build the identity you wish for your business to have.
- Build relationships with donees slowly. Donate a small amount the first time, see how it goes, and consider donating larger amounts to them in the future.
- Small changes to your offer might fit in better with your donees ability to sell. Talk to them. Work with them.
- Seek other ways in which your donees can give you exposure. If they are having an event, can you speak or present at that event? If they have a website, can you have a link from their website to yours? If they are going to be selling your gift certificates using email messages, can they include your business name in the subject line of those email messages? Etc.
